Dora and Diego – Let’s Explore: Where Families Can Have Fun and Learn a Thing or Two in Anaheim

If you are visiting the Anaheim Express Inn Maingate with your kids or grandkids, you won’t want to miss the Dora and Diego – Let’s Explore exhibit at the Discovery Science Center in Anaheim. Imagine spending the day watching your children explore the world of the infamous Dora the Explorer, Diego and all of their friends. They might even learn a little something!

The exhibit features interactive areas where preschool-age kids can learn about everything from space to animals. Aspiring astronauts will enjoy helping Dora and her best friend, Boots, pilot a rocket ship to the Purple Planet or you can spend your time in space identifying constellations and star shapes and patterns. And don’t miss your chance to go down the Purple Planet slide!

Young gardeners will enjoy a visit to Isa the Iguana’s flower garden. There, you can learn how to take care of plants and animals, pick flowers made of fabric, enjoy the smells of the garden, try on your own set of butterfly or bird wings and even interact with birds, insects and butterflies. Don’t forget to visit Dora’s friend Tico the Squirrel’s tree to be a good neighbor and help the little guy pick nuts for his picnic and to fuel his car. You can even play along with Swiper, the sneaky fox who likes to swipe Tico’s nuts.

Other activities at the Dora and Diego – Let’s Explore exhibit include the Pirate Ship, where you can dress up, look through telescopes and divvy up treasure, as well as a Rainforest Maze that will have kids swinging on monkey bars, crawling through fallen trees, climbing mountains and jumping over rocks to look for rainforest animals. Finally, don’t forget to visit Diego’s Animal Rescue Center where kids can learn how to care for sick or injured animals by bathing them and providing them with first aid.

The Bowers Museum is the largest and most popular museum in Orange County. The Bowers Museum was first opened in 1936 and was a city ran museum. In the mid 1980′s the museum was closed with the understanding it would be reopened when careful planning and studying was done to make the museum the best it could be. In 1992 the museum was opened and was at least six times larger then it previously was. The newly reopened museum was a booming success. The Bowers museum is the only museum that is devoted to promoting human understanding through art. The museum is very child oriented, they also offer birthday parties and face painting.

The Bowers Museum is close to four major highways and is also 4 miles away from DisneyLand. Some of the current exhibitions include warriors, tombs, temples, spirts, headhunters, ancient arts of china, first californians, pre-columbian exhibits and much more. There are also two upcoming exhibits, one starting in February, and the other in March. The first upcoming exhit is the California Gold exhibit which includes California gold coins, recovered treasure, and much more . The next upcoming exhibit is the Sacred Gold exhibit which includes the world finest collection of pre-hispanic gold, national treasure, and many more exciting exhits to go along with that theme.

The museum is a great experience for kids and adults of all ages. The museum offers affordable memberships and ticket prices. If you have not been to Disney in a while, you should take the opportunity to walk down Main Street, U.S.A. and work your way through Fantasyland, Tomorrowland and Adventureland. Take a ride on the Disney Railroad or venture into the Haunted Mansion. No matter how old you are, feel free to act like the kid you are at heart.

DISNEY CALIFORNIA ADVENTURE PARK

There are many great attractions, including The Little Mermaid Adventure, The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror and an incredible 3D Muppet Movie seen through the eyes of Kermit. You’ll get the true feel of what it’s like to fly when you check out the Soarin’ Over California ride. The engineers who designed this spectacular ride did a great job in creating a very realistic flying experience. The tour will take you from the beaches of San Diego to the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco and many other points in between.

DOWNTOWN DISNEY

For more of an adult view of Disney, visit the Disney District that features outdoor cafes, nightclubs, live musical performances and plenty of shopping opportunities along D Street. Also included are the House of Blues and an interactive experience called RIDEMAKERZ where you can design and race your own remote-control race cars. Top it all off with a po’boy sandwich at Ralph Brennan’s Jazz Kitchen.

ANAHEIM ICE RINK

It may be 90 degrees outside, but it’s nice and cool inside this public ice rink. Rent some skates and join the 6,000 other people who visit this popular attraction every week.

DAD MILLER GOLF COURSE

This economically priced, very well-maintained public course presents a good challenge for golfers of all skill levels. Many people choose to walk the tree-lined fairways, but golf carts are available for those that prefer to ride.

ANAHEIM/ORANGE COUNTY WALK OF STARS

Don’t confuse this local Anaheim attraction with the more famous Hollywood Walk of Fame. There are Stars along the Walk dedicated to those who have made significant contributions to the city of Anaheim. Among the more well-known names are Gene Autry, the Righteous Brothers and, of course, Walt Disney.

MUZEO ART MUSEUM

If you are in need of a little culture, this is a great place to spend an afternoon. There is a 5,000 square foot art gallery, a small theatre and a community reading room included in the complex. Exhibits are always changing and there are lots of special events and lectures at this downtown Anaheim attraction.
